Are you a passionate Data Engineer who is passionate about turning data into insights and business value? Do you want to be part of a world-leading company in the steel industry where innovation and sustainability are at the center? Then you could be the one we are looking for at SSAB Special Steels in Oxelösund!
Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.
About the position
You will belong to the System Development department within the Strategy unit. The unit also consists of the Application Development and Digital Transformation departments.
You will work in a cross-functional agile team. The team currently consists of 3 data scientists and 2 data engineers. We will expand the team and you will then become the third data engineer. In the team, you will, together with the other data engineers, be responsible for and manage our data platform with Trino, Datahub, Airflow, Iceberg, Kafka, Grafana and more. There may also be assignments to build data pipelines to configure resources in the Kubernetes cluster.
A natural part of the work is to collaborate with automation engineers and data scientists to make available and use data from production.
Travel may occur once a year to see other steel mills, business intelligence or as excellence in delegations.
As a data engineer, there are opportunities to work remotely, but it is expected that you can participate on site in Oxelösund on the days needed. The rest of the team has as standard to be on site in Oxelösund 2-3 days a week but it can vary depending on projects and tasks.
