About the position

You will belong to the System Development department within the Strategy unit. The unit also consists of the Application Development and Digital Transformation departments.

You will work in a cross-functional agile team. The team consists of 3 data scientists and 2 data engineers and you will be the third data scientist. In the team, you will be responsible for running projects in production that can vary from developing advanced AI models to optimize production processes to helping engineers visualize process data. In a few cases, we also participate in research projects together with industry organizations. It can be anything from computer vision solutions, training AI models to formulating SQL queries.

Travel may occur once a year to see other steel mills, business intelligence or as excellence in delegations. A natural part of the work is to collaborate with other functions and jointly solve tasks. The team has as standard to be on site in Oxelösund 2-3 days a week but it can vary depending on projects and tasks.

Your main responsibilities

  • Develop, test, peer-review, productionize and monitor AI models and other data-based solutions.
  • Project manage data projects.
  • Support other parts of the organization in visualizing data.
  • Oversee and educate in data science.


About you

  • You have a degree in higher education / civil engineering, preferably in one of the areas of AI / ML and Computer Vision.
  • You have preferably worked with model development, data visualization and application development in python.
  • Experience with programming in Python and SQL and experience with CI/CD is advantageous.
  • You have strong problem-solving skills and can quickly identify problems and find creative and effective solutions.
  • You are good at communicating and explaining complex solutions in a simple and clear way even to those who do not have specialist knowledge in the field.
  • You plan and organize your work in a realistic way, take initiative to make things happen and have the ability to make your own decisions.
  • You like to test new technologies.
