Are you the one?

Do you like innovative solutions, collaborating with others and contributing to the development of a master class rolling mill? Look here! For process development at Plåt, we are now looking for Development Engineers who want to join us on the journey towards becoming the world's first fossil-free steel company. Welcome with your application!

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the position

As a Development Engineer at SSAB Special Steels in Oxelösund, you will belong to the Sheet Metal Unit with about 800 employees and be part of a team of 13 process development engineers. We work with the development and improvement of processes all the way from cutting of steel material, hot rolling, heat treatment to finishing.

Your main responsibilities

  • Be present and active in production to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Analyze and improve existing production processes.
  • Lead and participate in problem solving and improvement activities.
  • Participate in investment and research projects.
  • Contribute to the development of the Plåts production system as we switch to fossil-free processes.

About you

  • To thrive in the role, we believe that you are curious, innovative, structured and like to collaborate.
  • As the role involves collaboration with all stages of production, it is important that you are responsive and communicative in both English and Swedish.
  • We believe you thrive in a varied work where you can familiarize yourself with details but also see the big picture, as well as work with both short-term problem solving and long-term improvements.
  • Relevant academic education in materials technology, materials physics, mechanical engineering and / or equivalent experience in process development in steel or other process industry is a prerequisite for success in the role.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods is an advantage, but also experience of hands-on work in a production environment.
  • It is important to us that you both contribute to and complement the existing team in terms of skills, experience and personality.
