We are looking for a committed and strategically oriented development engineer to strengthen our team in steel testing. Location Oxelösund.

About the position

As a development engineer within the testing organization, you are a key person responsible for developing, implementing and ensuring that quality strategies, processes and management systems meet our requirements. An important part of your assignment will be your role as a quality manager as parts of the business are accredited. Your main area will be towards mechanical testing.

The Testing department consists of three sections that cover Oxelösund's testing needs in the areas of mechanical testing, chemistry and metallography. The testing performed is an important part of ensuring feedback to the steelmaking process, issuing of certificates with the products delivered, testing for research and development etc. It is very important that the test results have high reliability and are performed in an efficient way which we achieve through strong collaborations. It is an exciting time ahead of us with the climate change in the steel industry. The need for testing has increased and is expected to continue to increase as a result of the demand for new and more advanced steel products.

Your main responsibilities

  • Develop the business so that it meets set goals regarding production, quality, delivery reliability and costs from a more strategic perspective.
  • Responsible for quality management and ensure that our work complies with the standard for testing laboratories ISO / IEC 17025.
  • Compile and analyze statistics and key figures to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Contribute and drive assignments in internal and external contexts such as projects, committees, investments, etc.
  • Work closely with the department's section as well as other departments within SSAB to ensure that testing meets the company's needs and is constantly developed and improved
  • Participate in both internal and external quality audits.

About you

  • You have a Master's degree in engineering or equivalent in the relevant field.
  • You have experience of working with testing.
  • Good knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and experience of quality management.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • You have strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset.
  • Have good ability to drive activities and create improvements in operations
