Are you the one?

Do you want to contribute to environmental improvement measures and have management experience? Do you want to contribute to SSAB's vision of a stronger, lighter and more sustainable world? Then you are the one we need to lead and coordinate the work of the Environment section, which is part of the EHSQ section, where you will sit in the management team. Location Luleå.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the position

You will work with environmental issues linked to existing production but also support the work of converting existing production to fossil-free steel production. Before the turn of the year, SSAB Luleå received permission for a completely new production plant for the manufacture of fossil-free steel, which will be completed in 2028. The position is located in Luleå and is a permanent position.

You will be part of a group of about 10 people consisting of environmental / energy engineers and technicians who act as expert support to production in environmental and energy issues. The group's task is to drive, monitor and streamline the company's environmental work according to SSAB's environmental policy and the significant environmental aspects so that continuous improvements are maintained and conditions and legal requirements are met.

The group works with matters relating to self-monitoring, permits and as a support function in various environmental issues depending on what is relevant.

You will represent the company in contact with authorities and other stakeholders in environmental issues. You participate in various collaboration forums and networks both internally and externally. It may also be relevant to make statements in the media in the event of environment-related events.

Your main responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize and manage resources within the Environment section.
  • The environmental report that is produced annually.
  • Permits for carbon dioxide emissions for SSAB Luleå's operations.
  • Represent SSAB Luleå to authorities and other stakeholders in environmental issues.
  • Drive, monitor and streamline SSAB Luleå's environmental work.

About you

  • We would like to see that you are a civil engineer with an environmental focus or other equivalent education, or well-documented work experience that has provided equivalent competence.
  • You have managerial experience and a strong commitment to both leadership and environmental issues.
  • You are flexible and enjoy leading and working in an organization that is on an exciting journey of change.
  • You have a good ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a simple and accessible way to different target groups. Communication is in both Swedish and English.
  • Your personal qualities are important to us. You are driven, committed, positive, thorough and systematically solve the problems you face. You cooperate well and enjoy working with others.
