Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

You support production and management in all types of environmental issues, both in daily operations and in investment projects. You are involved in the department's work with environmental risk assessments, annual environmental reporting, controls and contacts with the authorities.

You will work with emission calculations, compilations and internal accounting, as well as monitor and submit comments on future environmental legislation via our industry organization.

Your main responsibilities

  • Support and assist production with environmental issues
  • Environmental support in projects
  • Follow-up of compliance with conditions and legal requirements
  • Reporting to authorities

About you

  • You have a university degree in environment, energy, biology, acoustics or similar.
  • Experience working with environmental issues, preferably in industry.
  • You have good communication skills and are easy to work with.
  • You are thorough and can familiarize yourself with a complex business.

Some words from a prospective colleague

"My name is Dermot and I work as an environmental officer at Yttre Miljö here at SSAB in Oxelösund. I have always had a great interest in environmental issues and the basic industry. Yttre Miljö is responsible for running the local environmental work, following up the outcome and reporting to the authorities, To be involved in and work with SSAB's transition to fossil-free steel production is probably the most wonderful and rewarding job there is. We work purposefully, carefully and analytically to support the company in its journey. In this job, it's being able to dig into the details while seeing the bigger picture that's important. In addition, an interest in the environment and a belief in the future are the most important qualities needed to work here."
