About the position

As Head of Maintenance, you will work to lead your business towards set goals with a present leadership that is permeated by continuous improvement. Your section Maintenance Steelworks includes responsibility for four sections: Media, Technology, Electrical / IT and Mechanical Maintenance, a total of just over 65 employees, including 4 managers. The position is part of the management team for the Steelworks department.

As section manager, you are responsible for your staff's work environment, you are responsible for the plant, which includes operational safety and budget and investments. Together with your coworkers, you are expected to break down SSAB's strategy into local action plans, goals and KPIs and follow up each area's contribution to it. You will also have a significant role in the strategic work towards the steelworks' change journey towards the fossil-free transition. As a leader, you are coaching and driven by seeing other people develop. You are also good at implementing and following up on decisions made. Working in a systematic way with continuous improvements is a matter of course for you.

Your main responsibilities

  • Work with your colleagues to create short- and long-term maintenance and investment plans and monitor the functioning of the facilities.
  • Develop working methods and methods for corrective and preventive maintenance as well as corrective maintenance, which means systematically taking measures to improve the operational reliability of the facilities and equipment in the area.
  • Work closely with production to ensure effective communication and collaboration between the sections.
  • Since safety is the highest priority within SSAB, you will be a key person when it comes to developing safety in your area of responsibility.


About you

  • You who are looking for a person who is open, positive and a responsive team player with a good ability to work closely with other people.
  • You want to work on developing people, facilities and working methods with the help of coaching leadership.
  • You also understand the meaning of leading others by leading yourself. As a person, we look for you to be confident, clear and structured in your approach.
  • You are driven, take initiative and thrive in social contexts. You are comfortable in the role of management representative and can take and stand for uncomfortable decisions when needed. You are used to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • You should also have a strong sense of responsibility and be positive about change and development.
  • You have work experience as a manager and leader, preferably in industry or similar activities.
  • You have experience of leading in change and stand firm when there is a lot going on at once.
  • You have a university degree in a relevant field or equivalent documented knowledge.
  • You are technically knowledgeable and interested in production, maintenance and processes.
  • If you have previous experience of working with projects, maintenance or production, this is an advantage.
  • If you have knowledge of how the maintenance process works within SSAB, this is also an advantage.
  • As we work in an international environment, you need to be able to speak and write both English and Swedish fluently.
