About the position

As head of the Work Environment & Health section, you will work with the areas of work environment and health linked to existing production but also contribute to the work of converting existing production to fossil-free steel production. Before the end of the year, SSAB Luleå received permission for a completely new production facility for the manufacture of fossil-free steel, which will be completed in 2028. The position is located in Luleå and is a permanent position.

You will be part of and lead a group of about 13 people consisting of work environment engineers, chemical engineers, leisure consultants, service men at our Wellness Center, training manager crane & truck and coordinator & inspector fall protection. The group's task is, among other things, to support the business in the health promotion, prevention and remedial work environment work. Through competent advice, you help the business to meet legal requirements and work to ensure that continuous improvements are maintained. You are responsible for and carry out training and contribute to the introduction of risk prevention approaches, tools and methods. Within the group, you also take care of our fine Wellness Center with, among other things, gym, bowling and sports hall.

Authority contact, mainly with the Swedish Work Environment Authority, is channeled through the group, which also has a cohesive responsibility in accident investigations and serious incidents.

You will participate in various collaboration forums and networks where you represent SSAB Luleå and where communication takes place in both Swedish and English.

Your main responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize and manage resources within the Work Environment & Health section; Health
  • Support the business in the health promotion, preventive and remedial work environment work
  • Support the business to meet legal requirements in the work environment and chemicals area
  • Development of relevant processes and working methods
  • Work for, initiate and lead improvement work in the areas of work environment and health
  • Drive and streamline SSAB Luleå's work with work environment and health
  • Responsible for contacts with authorities


About you

  • We would like you to have a university degree with a focus on work environment, or other education that is considered equivalent
  • You have several years of documented experience of work environment work in a larger organization
  • You have previous management experience and great commitment to both leadership and work environment / health issues.
  • You are flexible and enjoy leading and working in an organization that is in an exciting journey of change
  • You have good ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a simple and accessible way to different target groups. Communication is in both Swedish and English
  • Your personal qualities are important to us. You are driven, committed, positive, thorough and systematically solve the problems you face. You work well and willingly with others but can also pursue issues independently.
