Work model On location
Application due date 6 January 2025
Are you the one?

Do you have experience in remedial and preventive mechanical maintenance? Are you meticulous, driven and enjoy working both individually and in groups? We are looking for you with a great commitment and technical interest. Does this sound like you? You will work in a highly competent group of colleagues in electrical and mechanical engineering.Welcome with your application today! Location Borlänge.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

As a mechanic with us at Operational Maintenance, you mainly perform work with preventive maintenance and condition checks of all existing mechanical equipment in the field and are therefore an important cog in the preventive maintenance work at SSAB Borlänge.

The last day to apply is January 6, but apply today as selection and interviews are ongoing and the recruitment will be closed when we have found the candidate we are looking for.

The working hours are daytime.

About you

We are looking for you who have a suitable technical education at least at upper secondary level or equivalent documented knowledge. Alternatively, you have experience of mechanical work in the process industry. Since you work daily in our maintenance system IFS, good computer skills are a requirement. You should also have good knowledge of the Swedish language to absorb written information. A B-driving license is required.

We attach great importance to your personal qualities. To thrive in the role, we believe that you have the ability to work both independently and in a team. You need to be able to take initiative and be driven in your work when the situation requires. Since you will work closely with both internal and external colleagues, we are looking for you who are communicative and feel confident in contacting different roles and positions within the organization, both internal and external, and enjoy new challenges in everyday life.

At SSAB, we have a group-organized way of working, which places demands on your and the work group's ability to independently drive the work process from planning to execution and follow-up.

We expect you to have the will to take responsibility for the cold rolling process and to contribute with excellence and initiative as a mechanic. Functional responsibility means that mechanics, in collaboration with IT, hydraulics and electricity, collaborate across borders and are responsible for the work in cold rolling. Here you can also be expected to keep the work together in smaller, temporary teams to solve tasks in, for example, troubleshooting and diagnostics.

It is a merit for the position if you have knowledge of, for example:

  • Bearing assembly
  • Screw tensioning / screw joints
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
  • Welding
  • Axis alignment with laser
  • Lubrication systems or tribology.

Your main responsibilities

  • Corrective and preventive maintenance
  • Troubleshooting
  • Drawing reading
  • Planning and preparing own work in IFS
