Application due date 15 November 2024
Are you the one?

We are now looking for a mechanic for our maintenance organization with placement on central maintenance overhead cranes. You will work in a close-knit competent group that largely plans and controls its own work.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

You will be part of a central department that works with assignments against our cranes throughout the plant in Borlänge. As a mechanic in our traverse group, you work with preventive and remedial mechanical maintenance to support high availability and development of our cranes. In the traverse group, you work independently in teams of two people where you are responsible for the preparation/planning and execution of the jobs. The work is regularly done at high altitude.

Your main responsibilities

  • Preventive and corrective maintenance on overhead cranes and lifting devices
  • Fault finding
  • Planning and preparation
  • Drawing reading
  • Improvement work

About you

  • You have a suitable technical education at least at upper secondary level or equivalent documented knowledge.
  • B driving license is a requirement.
  • We prefer that you have worked as a mechanic for a few years. It is your knowledge as a mechanic that is important.
  • We attach great importance to your personal qualities such as a sense of responsibility, initiative, ability to cooperate and flexibility.
  • You have the ability to communicate easily with people at different levels and in different roles, both internally within SSAB and with external suppliers.
