Are you the one?

Do you want to be part of our expansive fossil-free journey and take a key role in developing our steel production to meet future demands? Welcome to submit your application for the position as Strategic Technician Steel Mill within the Metallurgy unit at SSAB Oxelösund.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the position

In the role of Strategic Technician, you will be part of the Steelworks' management team and work closely with managers and technicians to achieve long-term results. At the Steelworks, approximately 250 employees work to produce steel by converting liquid pig iron into premium quality solids.

In your role as Strategic Technician, you will work very closely with the Head of Department and together you will ensure that the department achieves its goals. You will be given the opportunity to develop, take great responsibility and replace the Head of Department when needed.

You will support the departments by being a present support and will be expected to handle operational issues.

This is a fixed-term position of 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Recruitment may take place on an ongoing basis, so send in your application now!

Your main responsibilities

  • Daily management where safety, quality, delivery and productivity have the highest focus.
  • You have no budget responsibility but are expected to participate and support the budget process including cost follow-up.
  • You will be active in the development of the processes with the support of our surrounding support functions, such as process development, maintenance organization and production planning and others.
  • You will have an active role in the work with investments and participate in steering groups and help handle issues at the interface between projects and the Steelworks, including the commissioning of new plants

About you

We are looking for a person who has several years of experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in steel manufacturing. You have previous management experience. You are curious and not afraid to try new things. You will report directly to the Head of Department at the Steelworks.
