Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry. Location Luleå.

As a locomotive driver at SSAB, you have an important role in production. Your main tasks are to transport pig iron, slag and steel blanks using locomotives within SSAB's industrial area. The transportation follows a schedule that is adapted to the production of pig iron, and your goal is to ensure that the transportation runs smoothly and without interruption.

The work may involve work rotation with other tasks on the section. To succeed in the role, it is crucial that you have a good ability to prioritize safety, even in stressful situations, and that you can carefully follow regulations and instructions.

Your main responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out transports of liquid pig iron, slag and steel blanks within SSAB's industrial area.
  • Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and report deviations in production that affect the flow of transports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate transports and minimize production disruptions.
  • Participate in work rotation and support colleagues in other sections when needed.
  • Keep up to date on current regulations and changes in work procedures.

About you

  • You have a curiosity and drive to learn new things.
  • You care about your own safety and the safety of others.
  • You are a team player who enjoys working in teams.
  • You have good self-awareness, spread positive energy and lead by example.
  • You contribute to improvements and strive to achieve results.
  • You have passed the core subjects (Swedish, mathematics and English) at upper secondary school level or equivalent.
  • You have a B driving license.
  • You have a good command of Swedish in both speech and writing.
  • If you are a trained shunting driver or locomotive driver with a driver's license, this is an advantage.
