Stegra is an industrial impact company with the ambition to reduce carbon emissions in fossil-intensive industries that are struggling to transition. We are building our first large-scale green hydrogen, green iron and green steel production facility in Boden. Role description
We are looking for experienced and skilled Process Operators to join our Steel Mill Operations team. In this role you will be responsible for operating and maintaining key equipment within the casting production and work in a rotating shift pattern. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient and high quality production environment, directly supporting our operational objectives.
Main duties
- Take responsibility for contributing to a safe working environment, actively participating in the development and maintenance of process control and safety procedures and a robust safety culture.
- Work as part of a shift team in a hot and dusty environment, collaborating with maintenance personnel to ensure safe operation and stable production conditions.
- Control and operate equipment and processes in the casting area, with strict adherence to safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Support team members in daily tasks and participate in rotation of tasks to develop a broad skill set within the shift team. Work and develop in multiple positions, such as molder, caster or checker.
- Use central control and field instruments to control and adjust process parameters in a time-pressured environment.
- Responsible for providing online process and material data, including documentation of production events and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure efficient storage and handling of consumables needed for daily production (forklift license desirable).
- Take proper action in case of downtime and deviations affecting production (e.g. by performing oxygen blowing, flame cutting or grinding) and report these incidents in a sustainable way.
- Work on the continuous improvement of the shift team's performance and work closely with other production operators to improve casting efficiency.
- Support the maintenance team during downtime or disruption phases.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent in relevant field preferred.
- Additional certificates (e.g. crane, welding, forklift) are an advantage.
Experience
- Extensive relevant experience in heavy industry, preferably in steel production, mining, foundry, forging and/or machining.
- Experience operating equipment and making independent decisions in a time-pressured/high-stress environment.
- Experience working in dust and high heat environments.
- Experience working with limited supervision in non-routine situations.
- Experience in developing working methods and manuals.
- Experience in casting and secondary metallurgy is highly meritorious.
- Experience with Meltshop equipment (e.g. EAF, AC/DC, High Temperature Furnaces) where in-depth, complex training was required, is meritorious.
- Military or firefighter background is an advantage.
