Stegra, formerly known as H2 Green Steel, aims to transform the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the ultimate goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal, water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tons of green steel per year in our fully integrated, digitalized and sustainable plant in Boden in northern Sweden - currently under construction.

Shift Manager in the Steel Mill

We are currently recruiting Shift Managers in all areas of the Steel Mill: Smelter, Casting, Hot Rolling Mill, Cold Rolling Mill and Galvanizing.

As a Shift Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that areas of operation run smoothly during your shift. In this role, you will focus on safety, quality and performance while leading a team and collaborating with other departments to achieve goals. You will ensure tasks are carried out efficiently, support teamwork and maintain good communication for a stable production.

In this role, you will get to get in early in our steel mill production and together with the production manager build up your area, be involved in establishing routines and work steps within your work area, as well as being involved in recruiting employees to your own team.

We place great emphasis on our shift managers having a previous experience in steel production. Although we would like to see that in combination with experience in steel production you have previous experience as a leader, it is not a requirement for this position with previous leadership experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Support your team which includes process operators, mechanics, electricians, and instrument and automation technicians, and promote a safe working environment.
  • Guide the team to increase overall performance in safety, quality, production and cost.
  • Organize resources and plan staffing to meet the needs of the day, help the team work well together, and keep operations running with minimal delays.
  • Make sure your team follows safety rules, checking regularly for any issues and making sure everyone is using the necessary protective equipment. Keep quality standards high and deal quickly with any safety issues.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the steelmaking plant. Ensure production targets are met in terms of volume, quality, schedule and cost control.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma in relevant field is preferred. A bachelor's degree in metallurgy, process engineering or another related field is an advantage but not a requirement.
    • Experience in steel production in any production role
    • Experience with safety protocols in heavy industrial environments

  • Good process knowledge and knowledge of the department's technical equipment and safety procedures

  • Very good knowledge of English. Fluency in Swedish is meritorious.
