Description

In the Solar System Physics and Space Engineering research program, we explore the solar system. The group consists of scientists and engineers with different specialties working together to develop and deliver space instruments for national and international scientific satellites. Projects are usually carried out together with ESA, NASA and other major space agencies. Job description

We are primarily looking for an engineer to work on:

  • Design and development of analog circuits
  • Testing of electronics for vacuum environment
  • Testing and verification of prototype circuits
  • EMC testing and verification

The process from idea to finished instrument is mainly carried out at IRF and you will have an important role throughout the project lifetime. The projects usually involve international collaborations, which may involve both domestic and international travel. The production of technical documentation is an important part of the work, as well as being able to verbally communicate the results of the work.

Qualifications

Civil engineering degree with a specialization in electronics or a university degree in engineering with additional professional experience deemed relevant by the employer.

The following skills are required:

  • Basic circuit design, both analog and digital.
  • System design of electronics.
  • PCB design and layout.
  • Testing and verification of prototypes and PCB designs.
  • Handing basic electronic bench equipment, i.e. oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMM, spectrum analyzers.

The following knowledge is considered meritorious:

  • SMPS design, especially with "flyback" and "forward" architecture.
  • SPICE simulation and verification, preferably specific to SMPS.
  • EMC knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing and technology.
  • Parasitic effects in circuits and constraints in components.
  • Knowledge of electronics design for vacuum and harsh environments (radiation, temperature, vibration).

Due to the extensive international contacts, it is important that you can express yourself very well in speech and writing in English.

The work places high demands on independence, accuracy, initiative and the ability to solve problems in many technical areas. Good interpersonal skills within the team as well as with external parties are essential. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
