The Pilot & Demo business area at the Swerim Metal Research Institute is looking for you who want to contribute to technology and innovation development to meet the industry's and future society's challenges in a role as: Group Manager Technician. In order for new ideas for products and processes to be developed and reach their market, they first need to be tested and demonstrated under real conditions. Within the department, in collaboration with customers, all or part of the testing process takes place. We work operationally with our pilot equipment in most known metallurgical processes as well as processes for heating and processing of metals. We rebuild and adapt our facility to suit the customer's conditions and develop processes at a scale that makes them transferable to the customer's manufacturing processes. Pilot and demo support projects in the set-up and preparation phase, during execution and in post-analysis. The group currently employs 18 technicians with different specializations such as operators, mechanics, machine operators & masons. It is common for one person to work alternately with several roles, which provides flexibility and the opportunity to conduct the very varied activities required to meet customer needs. The majority of technicians are collectively employed. The group works closely with all the employees in the business area (about 40 people) and often with employees in other groups and business areas. Duties and responsibilities As group manager, you will be responsible for the group's operations, development, human resources and finances. You will also participate in maintenance and investment projects in close cooperation with internal colleagues and Swerim's industrial partners. The work is very varied, which may mean that the assignments and work area may change over time. You report to the business area manager for Pilot and Demo and collaborate with other group managers within Swerim to jointly develop the business and operations. We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong background in research and development where your experience from industry and the institute sphere is a strong advantage for the role. In addition to leading your team, you will also actively generate, participate in and drive research projects, where your scientific background and industry networks will come in handy. Responsibilities: * Responsible for operations, personnel & finance. * Responsible for the development of the activities within the group. * Responsible for the preventive work to ensure a good and safe working environment. * Participate in the planning of preventive maintenance on the pilot equipment and establish operating and maintenance procedures. * Participate in design work and investments. Who are you? Qualifications: * Scientific/technical background in a field relevant to the position. * Experience in budget responsibility and financial follow-up. * Experience in a senior position with personnel responsibility * Obtained industrial knowledge in heavy industry. * Very good written and oral skills in Swedish and English. You see collaboration as one of your most important tools. The service is a permanent full-time position and the location is Luleå. Travel is included in the service and it is an advantage, but not a requirement with a driving license.
