We want to become more! The Swerim Metals Research Institute conducts industry-oriented research and development on metals and their path from raw material to finished product. We are 200 employees in two locations in Sweden - Luleå and Stockholm. Our vision is a fossil-free and circular industry.
The Joining Center at Swerim is northern Europe's largest resource for joining technology research with a large national and international contact network.
About the work
We work with companies in many different industrial segments, both in Sweden and internationally, focusing on issues in infrastructure, automotive and materials. We are driven by creating industrial benefits through research that contributes to a more sustainable, electrified and circular industry.
All our research is conducted in close collaboration with our customers and based on industry needs. The work varies from short assignments to longer development projects in collaboration with many parties and where you, as a researcher and project manager, contribute with expertise, motivation and communication. An important part of our business is the training of new welding engineers in collaboration with, among others, KTH and the Welding Commission. Your expertise and commitment will play an important role in this work.
You will work together with a team of dedicated colleagues and have support from employees throughout Swerim, including in material characterization, corrosion and mechanical testing. You will have the opportunity to develop both as a researcher and project manager in an environment with modern labs and an open collaborative climate.
Who are you?
We are looking for you with a technically relevant background in joining/welding, and would like to see that you are a civil engineer with welding engineering competence, IWE. It is meritorious if you are a PhD in a relevant field or have a few years of industrial experience of joining processes and application development. It is of particular interest if you have experience as a trainer or applicant for publicly funded projects.
Your personal qualities and ability to self-motivate are of great importance in the role of researcher. Characteristics such as curiosity, integrity and commitment influence you in your daily work. You enjoy different forms of collaboration and you use your networks and experience to help colleagues, and you communicate easily both orally and in writing in English and Swedish.
