The Environmental Development unit works broadly with sustainability in various environmental and climate assignments. We work with environmental assessments in spatial planning, environmental monitoring, nature conservation and action programs, as well as supervision and testing in the field of water. Within the unit, we also conduct sustainability and climate projects, energy and climate advice, Umeå municipality has developed a development strategy for water and wastewater with the aim of, among other things, securing the drinking water supply, achieving "good status" in our water bodies, promoting water cooperation and establishing appropriate coordinated environmental monitoring. The work is carried out in collaboration between several different parts of the municipality. Your tasks As a water officer, you will be responsible for the coordination, planning and execution of supervision and testing under the Environmental Code in stormwater, water protection areas and water activities. You will also work to some extent with environmental monitoring of water. You will handle supervision cases and incoming permit applications, as well as handle complaints. An important part is also to initiate and drive self-initiated supervision in water. Within the environmental monitoring work, you will plan, follow up and to some extent also carry out sampling in the field and drive action work for better water. You will work with colleagues with the same tasks, but be the one who is mainly responsible for coordinating the unit's work in water. We are looking for you who have: a scientific university degree in the field of water and environment, or education/professional experience deemed equivalent. work experience in supervision and assessment under the Environmental Code in one or more of the areas of stormwater, water protection areas and water activities. work experience in environmental monitoring of water competence and work experience in environmental quality standards for water B driving license Training and professional experience in limnology, hydrogeology and/or geosciences would be an advantage. If you have worked as a coordinator or project manager, this is particularly advantageous.
