Do you want to help create the future of Umeå? The Land and Development Department leads the municipality's work to plan and implement the master plan's intentions regarding the city's growth - on municipal land. Land and Development is responsible for around eighty development projects on municipal land in various phases and manages an investment budget of around two hundred million each year. Several of the largest and most important development areas are about to be realized, such as Tomtebo strand and Umeå Eco Industrial park. The unit forms a team that is involved in almost all phases of the urban development process and often has the role of problem solver, facilitator and coordinator. Great emphasis is placed on collaboration with other actors such as municipal activities and companies, private real estate companies and real estate developers. We are now looking for a committed and knowledgeable manager for our newly established development unit within Land and Development. Are you the person we are looking for? Your tasks As Head of Unit, you will play a key role in shaping the new Development Unit. You will lead a team of 12 skilled staff with different professional backgrounds. The role involves: coordinating, managing and providing strategic support for the operational work of the unit developing and implementing processes and procedures to improve the development process and the project management role be responsible for the development projects from feasibility to completion (operational responsibility) and the finances of the projects interact with other activities in the development process monitoring the external environment in the field understanding and representing the unit's area of responsibility As Head of Unit, you will also be responsible for the recruitment, salary setting, induction and development of staff, as well as for the unit's working environment, in consultation with the Head of Department where necessary. About you We are looking for you who have: a university or college degree in, for example, urban planning, surveying or equivalent. several years' experience of working in the field of spatial planning/development experience of operational responsibility, for example in a coordination or team leader role experience in managing projects experience of driving or actively participating in the development of processes and working methods If you have also worked as a manager and have experience of change management, this would be an advantage. As a person, you are clear, structured and willing to take difficult decisions. You are also open, positive, responsive and have a good ability to create a good collaborative climate. It is important that you are able to translate experience into development and are good at putting ideas into practice.
