The Employment and Integration Department is responsible for labor market issues and integration. The department contributes to increased growth in Umeå municipality through the perspectives of ecological, social, cultural and economic sustainability. The units enable change, development and increased health through the right intervention, in the right way at the right time. The department is also an obvious partner for individuals and businesses, in the work of transition and skills supply. Your tasks As an integration consultant, you will: Identify each individual's unique needs for psychosocial support during the settlement process. Support newcomers in understanding and anchoring the values on which Swedish society is based. Hold professional conversations that can be both supportive and motivating. Inform and guide newcomers during their establishment period, with a focus on providing individualized support to promote an independent life in a new country. An important part of the role is to build secure and long-term relationships with the newcomers. You will help them navigate a new culture and language, and help strengthen their path to self-sufficiency through work, study and housing. Where necessary, you will assist with practical tasks and participate in meetings linked to different authorities. You provide information and coordinate contacts with relevant actors in areas such as finances, housing, childcare, school, leisure, labor market, health care and parenting. The work involves daily cooperation with both on-site and telephone interpreters, as well as close collaboration with municipal activities and external actors. About you We are looking for you who have: A relevant degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, social work, rehabilitation or pedagogy. Practical experience of working with integration, immigration, refugee reception or similar areas. Meritorious qualifications: Experience of working in multicultural environments. Practical experience in interacting with both internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of one or more languages from non-European regions.
