Kulturskolan i Umeå offers semester courses, short courses, holiday activities and open activities, and is responsible for Skapande skola in Umeå municipality. We are mainly located at Midgårdsskolan, Umestan and Hamnmagasinet, but also at more than 20 schools around Umeå. In our music lessons, pupils learn to sing or play an instrument. We place great emphasis on orchestra, ensemble and choir activities. Our ambition is to work and collaborate across instrumental, genre and age boundaries. Your tasks You will teach violin to students both individually and in groups. Teaching takes place both during the day and in the evening. It may also be relevant to work in our El Sistema activities at the primary school, where there is individual and group teaching during school hours. The position also involves working with ensemble and orchestra management and you will be part of a team with other string teachers About you You have a university degree in pedagogy, or equivalent qualifications, with a focus on violin. You have experience of pedagogical work in the field of music. We would like you to have Suzuki training and experience of El Sistema, or similar activities is an advantage. We are looking for you who want to be a social and human role model with an understanding of all people's differences, both cultural and social. You are a good leader with great initiative and flexibility. To succeed in this role, you have a good ability to meet children and young people with different needs. You also collaborate well with colleagues working in other art forms such as drama, art, film and music. In addition to experience of teaching both individually and in groups, we would like to see that you have experience of and an interest in orchestra and ensemble conducting at various levels. It is an advantage if you have experience of working in a music or cultural school. You will be part of a subject team called the string team. The teaching can take place at several different schools around Umeå municipality, so it is good if you have a driving license and a car. You have a good ability to individualize teaching based on the needs of the students.
