The Umeå Region Fire Brigade includes Umeå, Vindeln and Robertsfors municipalities. We work with preventive fire protection and rescue services for around 140,000 people in one of the most expansive parts of Sweden. Rescue missions vary and can involve anything from fires and traffic accidents to handling hazardous substances. The fire brigade has a full-time station in central Umeå with about 80 employees and nine RiB stations with about 150 firefighters on standby and 2 fire brigades. We are also building another full-time station in Umeå, which is expected to be completed in 2027, and in connection with this we will also grow in the number of employees. Together with 16 other municipalities in Norrbotten and Västerbotten, we are part of the joint rescue management system Räddningssamverkan Nord. We now need to strengthen with additional employees and therefore we are looking for you who are interested in an exciting and varied work at the fire defense! You get interesting tasks and a hard-to-beat community at your workplace, but above all you fulfill a vital social function. Your tasks Depending on your conditions and opportunities, you will spend part of your time working in one of our management functions. This can be as an incident commander or regional incident commander based in Umeå and/or as a command officer or duty officer based at the rescue center in Luleå. During this time, which consists of day and night shifts, you work, among other things, to prepare and develop yourself in your operational role and be part of the system or rescue management at the operations you are alerted to. The rest of the time, you work mainly office hours where you run, develop and follow up the work areas and tasks for which you are responsible. Examples of work areas that could be relevant to you are response planning, hazardous substances, post-event learning, internal exercises or other areas and projects based on the needs of the organization and your possible wishes. As parts of the working hours can be carried out remotely from home and the need for location-bound work may be in Umeå and/or Luleå, opportunities open up for those who want to be resident in a place other than the Umeå area. About you We are looking for you with great commitment and drive and with a desire to develop and improve our business. Some of the qualities we value highly are that you are proactive and responsible, structured and educational. To be able to apply for the job, you have at least LK1 training via MSB or equivalent older training (eg Rescue Leader A). You should also have very good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing. Your computer skills are good and you have good experience of working with Office and Teams. Meritorious is education LK2 (Rescue Management B) or fire engineer with extension RUB and also operational work as an officer in the rescue service. However, great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. In the application, it is mandatory to attach a personal letter and CV.
