Your tasks
As a stormwater strategist, you are responsible for coordinating the municipality's continued work on strategies, measures and follow-up in the area of stormwater management flooding, landslides and landslides. Your mission is to support and develop processes in urban planning so that the city can better cope with today's weather and enable flexibility for the future.
The role involves both overall strategic work and more practical problem solving. You will bring important perspectives to the table, creating an overview and coherence that benefits the early stages of urban planning. You will also provide expertise in working groups where the municipality acts as a developer for infrastructure projects.
In your role, you are responsible for the implementation of the municipality's stormwater strategy together with other municipal departments, municipal companies and external stakeholders. You will convene and lead the municipality's stormwater coordination group, formulate objectives, activity and action plans and monitor results.
In the role of stormwater strategist, you work closely with the municipality's climate adaptation strategist, who is part of the same working group. Together, you are responsible for deepening the climate adaptation work in investment projects and planning processes, as well as updating roadmaps and priorities for future investments.
About you
We are looking for you who have an education, preferably a master's degree, in geohydrology, geoscience or hydrology. Alternatively, you may have a degree in a similar field or equivalent experience deemed equivalent. You have experience of working with stormwater management, for example, stormwater measures, flood risk assessments or landslide risk management.
We would like you to have experience in;
working in an interdisciplinary way and leading collaborations with different stakeholders, including authorities and companies
conducting investigations and projects to minimize landslide risks
planning and construction of stormwater facilities, preferably as nature-based solutions
modeling and analysis of stormwater flows or risk analysis of landslides and floods
developing and driving innovative solutions to climate-related challenges
GIS tools to help analyze and visualize geographic data related to stormwater management and landslide risks
applying for external funding and procuring studies.
Knowledge of standards and practices as well as of relevant laws and regulations in stormwater management and planning is an advantage.
We are looking for a good communicator who can adapt to both technical and non-technical audiences. You have the ability to translate strategic objectives into feasible projects and actions. We believe you enjoy achieving results through collaboration with other competences. You are a self-starter and organized with a good balance between attention to detail and a holistic approach.
