Er du den rette? Disability care in Umeå municipality wants to be a resource that frees and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life in proximity and interaction.
Short-term stays are one of the measures in LSS (the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons), which is intended to provide the child/young person with a change of environment and recreation, as well as relieving the burden on families. The activities aim to support individuals with disabilities and strengthen their ability to live an independent life. This is done by offering a change of environment and the opportunity for leisure activities, recreation and social interaction in a safe and homelike environment.
Ostvägen is a short-term home for children with intellectual disabilities. The target group includes a wide range of neuropsychiatric, mental and physical disabilities. The accommodation is in an apartment building with room for four children/day in the age range 5-14 years. During their stay, children have their own bedroom and access to common areas. There are playgrounds and green areas nearby.
Your tasks
As an employee at Ostvägens short-term accommodation, you are part of a team that works to create a safe, meaningful and developing stay for children and young people. Together with your colleagues, you support the individual's ability to live as independent a life as possible and contribute to a safe and stimulating environment.
You will plan and implement activities such as walks, play, crafts and games to promote social inclusion and create meaningful leisure time. The work also includes the usual household chores such as cooking, cleaning and personal care/intimate hygiene. An important part of the work is also to cooperate with parents and to ensure that each individual child receives the support needed.
The work also includes documentation, record keeping, preparation of implementation plans and medication management.
Heavy lifting is involved and situations of threat and violence may occur.
Scheduled working hours: day, evening, weekend and daytime.
Co-planning may take place between our operations.
About you
As a person, you are calm, confident and committed. You have good cooperation skills and a professional approach to users, relatives and other stakeholders. You share our values and strive to develop our activities through continuous improvement.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
In order for you to be able to communicate with users, relatives and colleagues, write and take part in care documentation, etc. it is required that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
Requirements
Educated nursery nurse, preschool teacher, assistant nurse or other education that the employer considers equivalent
Experience of working with children and young people
Meritorious
Experience of working with children and young people with disabilities
Experience with AAC/TAKK
Experience with positive behavioral support (PBS)
Experience in clarifying pedagogy
Experience with epilepsy
