We are now looking for a support educator to join our team. Is this you?
Your tasks
As a support educator, you support people with intellectual and mental disabilities together with your colleagues.
You will both work with practical interventions with the residents and guide colleagues in educational methods, which are proven and advocated by the National Board of Health and Welfare. Your way of working is characterized by flexibility, continuity and security.
You work with continuous improvements within the quality perspective regarding pedagogical methods and communication, documentation and introduction of new colleagues in the business.
You work on behalf of your manager and the assignments can vary over time depending on the needs of the business.
In order for you to be able to communicate with users, relatives and colleagues and to obtain medication, you must have a good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
As a support educator, you will be part of a network with other support educators where we offer continuous peer support and skills development. In disability care, we work with co-planning with other activities.
Scheduled working hours: day, evening, daytime/wake night.
About you
We are looking for you who want to make a difference for the target group and who have good teaching skills. You should have a great deal of commitment and a desire to be involved in developing the business. You are solution-focused and good at communicating and interacting with all roles that you meet in your everyday life.
You are confident, have a good attitude and are good at working together. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in the form of at least 200 YH credits, Support Educator or other equivalent YH education. Alternatively 60 HP in courses relevant to disability care. Programs and/or courses with a clear focus on work with intellectual, cognitive and mental disabilities. For example in:
- Ethical approaches
- Pedagogical theories and methods
- Alternative and augmentative communication
- Cognitive support
- Coaching approaches
- A few years of experience working with people with disabilities or other work experience that we consider equivalent.
Meritorious:
- Knowledge of one of the methods Motivational Interviewing (MI), Clarifying Pedagogy, Low-Effective Behavior (LAB) and Alternative and Complementary Communication (AAC), ESL.
