Then the position as Sustainability Manager at Umeå Municipality will suit you! As Sustainability Manager, you are part of the Strategic Development department within the City Management Office. The department leads Umeå's pursuit of a sustainable future by coordinating strategic initiatives in economic, ecological, social and cultural sustainability. Our work lays the foundation for the city's sustainable growth and aims to realize the vision of a Umeå with 200,000 inhabitants by 2050. The mission You will lead around 15-20 employees working with different dimensions of sustainable development. You have operational, financial and personnel responsibility for parts of the department and report to the head of department. As Head of Sustainability, you will lead and coordinate the municipality's overall sustainable development strategies. You are responsible for coordinating and integrating sustainability goals across different administrations and sectors within the municipality. By actively representing Umeå in different teams and steering groups, you ensure that sustainability perspectives are always present and prioritized. Travel is part of your work, both within Sweden and internationally, especially in Europe. Together with different teams, you drive innovation and development projects that promote Umeå's sustainable growth. Your leadership is crucial to ensure that the municipality's sustainability goals are put into practice and lead to concrete results. About you We are looking for you who have a relevant academic education and who have worked as a manager. Experience as a manager with staff responsibility would be an advantage. You should have experience and an understanding of sustainability issues at local, national and international level. Experience of working in policy-driven organizations and knowledge and experience of the research and innovation system both in Sweden and internationally would be an advantage. Your commitment and ability to navigate these environments will be valuable in driving Umeå's sustainable development forward. In your role as a leader, you are a passionate advocate of trust-based and shared leadership. You are a confident and clear person, present and open to dialog, which makes you an inspiring leader who can guide others. With your courage to lead the way and your enthusiasm, you create engagement and participation. You are skilled at initiating renewal and stimulating development and new opportunities, which you combine with a natural ability to take responsibility and act independently. Your work involves extensive participation in various networks and collaborations, where your ability to develop and nurture relationships plays a crucial role in achieving good results. As a role model in everyday life, you show that your words are translated into action. You inspire your colleagues to explore their curiosity, foster creativity and engage in collaboration. Your ability to empower both individuals and entire teams contributes to a dynamic work environment. You enjoy networking and public speaking, and you are particularly good at explaining complex issues in a light-hearted and interesting way, both orally and in writing, in Swedish and English.
