The department leads Umeå's pursuit of a sustainable future by coordinating strategic initiatives in economic, ecological, social and cultural sustainability. Our work lays the foundation for the city's sustainable growth and aims to realize the vision of a Umeå with 200,000 inhabitants by 2050. The mission You will lead around 15-20 employees working with different dimensions of sustainable development. You have operational, financial and personnel responsibility for parts of the department and report to the head of department. As Head of Sustainability, you will lead and coordinate the municipality's overall sustainable development strategies. You are responsible for coordinating and integrating sustainability goals across different administrations and sectors within the municipality. By actively representing Umeå in different teams and steering groups, you ensure that sustainability perspectives are always present and prioritized. Travel is part of your work, both within Sweden and internationally, especially in Europe. Together with different teams, you drive innovation and development projects that promote Umeå's sustainable growth. Your leadership is crucial to ensure that the municipality's sustainability goals are put into practice and lead to concrete results. About you We are looking for you who have a relevant academic education and who have worked as a manager. Experience as a manager with staff responsibility would be an advantage. You should have experience and an understanding of sustainability issues at local, national and international level. Experience of working in policy-driven organizations and knowledge and experience of the research and innovation system both in Sweden and internationally would be an advantage. Your commitment and ability to navigate these environments will be valuable in driving Umeå's sustainable development forward.
