Within Streets and Parks, we are responsible for the planning and development of the municipality's public outdoor environments, from streets and squares to parks and green spaces. Together we are about 125 employees who work daily to create a safe and beautiful urban environment.
We are now looking for a traffic planner who wants to make a difference!
Your tasks
As a traffic planner, you will be part of a working group that has a combined competence for planning the municipality's streets and traffic systems in issues such as road safety, pedestrian, bicycle and public transport planning, behavioral impact, accessibility and accessibility for all modes of transport. A central part of the work involves balancing and prioritizing between these interests and Umeå's overall goals.
The assignment includes working with traffic planning to achieve increased sustainable travel (walking, cycling and public transport) in the municipality. You will independently and together with others run investigations regarding traffic issues at different levels, implement and follow up various projects. We collaborate extensively with other administrations within the municipality and with the municipal companies. The role also involves contact with citizens, politicians and the media, as well as work on other related tasks in the field of transport.
Major initiatives at the moment that we are involved in include urban development within the ring road, new districts such as Tomtebo beach and Norra Ön, Sandbäckens commercial area, development of Sävar, prioritization of public transport and bicycle traffic, etc.
We are shaping the position partly based on your unique experience and your areas of interest in traffic planning so that you can contribute in the best way and at the same time develop in the role.
About you
We are looking for you who have a commitment to sustainable urban development and how transport systems can contribute to a better living environment. You enjoy both working independently on investigations and participating in planning projects in collaboration with others.
Furthermore, we want you to have:
Master's degree in civil engineering, road and water engineering or other university or college education in urban planning that we, in combination with experience, consider equivalent.
A few years of work experience in traffic planning or other relevant related field.
Good communication skills and express yourself well both orally and in writing in Swedish and have a good knowledge of English.
Good experience of working with Office 365
It is an advantage if you have
Experience of working with detailed plans, street construction or other traffic-related projects. Experience from municipal operations or the private sector in traffic and community planning. Have a B driving license.
