People under the age of 65 who have a disability and extensive needs for support and help can apply for personal assistance. A personal assistant helps someone with basic needs, such as eating, dressing, washing and communicating. The user tells us I am a woman in my 40s who wants to discover the world and I am looking for someone who can laugh, but who is also not afraid of difficult and hard emotions. I appreciate humor, laughter and crazy antics. As a result of trauma, I suffer from flashbacks, nightmares, body memories and panic attacks. In these moments I need help and support from my assistants. It is important for me that you and I establish a good relationship so that I feel safe with you. This may take a while, so I need you to be patient. Together we plan and structure our days to find a reasonable level of activity. Everyday life is interspersed with fun activities, and dealing with difficult emotions and memories. Your tasks You will support and assist a 40-year-old female user who has high-functioning autism and complex PTSD. Your primary task is to help the user with stress regulation, emotion management and finding strategies to act constructively in difficult situations. You also accompany them on activities. These can range from outdoor activities to shopping. The user has a great interest in being out in nature, as well as being physically active. We see that you share this interest, and have the energy for it. The assignment does not include personal hygiene. About you We are looking for you who are stable and confident in yourself. The user wants you to be a middle-aged woman. You radiate a calmness to your surroundings and stay collected and focused in stressful situations. You see challenges where others see obstacles and stand firm when the going gets tough. The work requires personal maturity and the ability to take initiative and make decisions when the situation requires it, to act constructively in difficult situations. You need to be highly committed and have an interest in working with behavioral change. It is desirable that you have a degree in education or social work, for example a social worker, treatment educator or equivalent. You may have experience of working with traumatized people, as well as people with self-harm and autism. It is also important that you or someone close to you does not smoke because the user has asthma. Fluency in Swedish is a requirement, as clear communication is crucial to understanding the user's needs and creating a safe and functional everyday life. The personal chemistry between you and the user is important, so personal suitability is highly valued. We would like to see that you have a B driving license but it is not a requirement.
