Are you the one? Disability care for adults consists of about 80 group and service homes for people who have been granted assistance under LSS.
We are approximately 700 employees in the area, where staff responsibility is currently divided between about 40 unit managers. About the job
As a unit manager with us, you are responsible for the quality, staffing and finances of a number of special care homes. How many employees you will have depends a little on the target group and how large the homes are, but most managers with us have about 20-25 employees. We want our managers to prioritize a physically present leadership and work continuously with quality and work environment issues.
The managerial assignment with us is developing and flexible, you get to work with both quality and personnel issues. You will have the opportunity to influence developments in the field, but also to work with your colleagues to develop the everyday lives of the people who live in our facilities. Your duties may include, for example:
systematically following up to ensure that quality, work environment and financial targets are met
ensuring that agreed activities are implemented
providing guidance and feedback to staff to help them develop their care work
Communicating values and encouraging dialog, cooperation and learning.
There are, of course, times when the role of unit manager is challenging. One such challenge may be the current labor shortage, and you will need to do some work on staff planning, staffing and recruitment.
To support you in your work, you have your unit manager colleagues, you are part of a team where you have dialog and collaborate on common issues. You will report to one of two assistant managers who will follow up and support you in your assignment. There are also support functions in administration, finance and HR.

About you
We are looking for you who have a university education, perhaps as a social worker but otherwise an equivalent education. We prefer that you have experience as a manager and it is good if you have experience of working with the target group. The most important thing is that you are passionate about the field.
As a unit manager, you will often be working at a fast pace and you will be involved in rapidly changing conditions. To thrive in this role, you must therefore appreciate being challenged and be solution-focused as a person. You are clear in your leadership role and you work purposefully and systematically with continuous improvements. You are also unpretentious and able to prioritize in pressured situations.
As a manager in Umeå municipality, we want you to represent the municipality in a trustworthy and positive way. You focus on the benefit to citizens and engage in dialog with your employees about goals and plans so that they understand their role and importance to the whole. It is also important that you stand for common values and are a role model for your colleagues. You encourage your staff to be curious, creative and collaborative, and make both the individual employee and the team visible.
