Umeå Elitidrottsgymnasium is Sweden's second largest elite sports high school with around 400 students in 14 different sports. There are both nationally approved sports programs (NIU) and sports with national intake. The school also offers local sports education (LIU) in ice hockey, skiing and orienteering. Students choose between five different upper secondary programs. As a member of our staff, you will be part of a large team with many contacts - to teachers, special sports teachers, the principal and a committed student health team. We are now looking for a sharp upper secondary school teacher in special sports with a focus on swimming. Your tasks Your main task is to lead the students at NIU swimming in their personal development as swimmers. You are also the school's natural contact person towards the students' swimming associations. The role includes planning and carrying out teaching, collaborating with colleagues on student learning and other common teacher tasks such as follow-up work and grading. About you We are looking for you who are a trained sports teacher with an academic background in sports, for example from the coaching program or a sports physiology education. You have experience of having worked as a coach for high-level competitive swimmers - or experience of having been an active swimmer at elite level. You are familiar with the school's governing documents and have the ability to individualize and vary the teaching based on the needs of the students. To succeed in the role, you need to have good collaboration skills, as peer learning in subject groups is an important part of the work. You are a clear leader in the classroom with the ability to create structure, context and good relationships. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
