About the role

Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and 400 dams in the Nordic region. The company has about 550 employees in Sweden and Finland and its head office is located in Luleå. Fossil-free electricity production from hydropower is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society in which Vattenfall plays an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future. Our hydro power production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs.

Vattenfall Vattenkraft is run as a business unit within Vattenfall's largest business area Production/Generation. Vattenfall Generation organizes Vattenfall's fossil-free electricity generation through Nuclear Power and Hydro Power, delivers services related to construction, operation, decommissioning and management of nuclear waste as well as facilities and infrastructure essential to the power system and Generation's approximately 7,500 employees are located in Sweden, Finland and Germany.

Vattenfall is now recruiting a new CEO and Business Unit Manager for Vattenfall Hydro Power. The CEO reports to Johan Dasht who is Sr Executive Vice President for Vattenfall Generation and also Chairman of the Board of Vattenfall Vattenkraft AB.

As CEO and Business Unit Manager, you are responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of the entire Hydropower business in our hydropower stations and dams in Sweden and Finland. You will lead, develop and follow up the business to achieve financial and quality targets and to deliver on both business and strategic plans together with the management team and other operations. You will play an important role in continuing to develop Hydropower's operations in terms of availability, safety and efficiency. This means driving and developing the entire business to become a benchmark in the industry and implementing ongoing and new programs in terms of cultural and other business development. As CEO and Business Unit Manager for Hydro Power at Vattenfall, you are operationally and profitably responsible for Hydro Power and are a member of Vattenfall Generation's management team where you actively contribute to Vattenfall Generation's common strategy and business plan.

We are looking for you who have previous experience in the role of CEO. You are a confident and driven leader with personal maturity who is used to creating value and results together with others. You should also have experience in both political and business negotiations and collaborative dialogues.

You thrive in the role of leading the business towards common goals in accordance with strategy and our culture where we are; Active, Positive, Open with a constant focus on Work Environment & Safety. You are communicative and have an interest in nurturing and developing relationships with the business as well as all types of stakeholders in the community at both local, regional and national level. You are strong and decisive while seeing the value of including and working closely with both employees and managers in the business with an emphasis on leading and developing the people in your organization. You impact the organization by working in line with Vattenfall's leadership focus areas where you excel at connecting people, developing learning and driving innovation.

You have an academic background in science or engineering, and if you have also worked in energy or plant-intensive operations, this is a merit. You must have good communication skills and be able to express yourself in speech and writing, both in Swedish and English.

Further information

Location Luleå or Solna. The position requires at least half-time presence at the head office in Luleå and there is frequent and regular travel between Vattenkraft's offices and facilities.
