We are seeking a Cloud FinOps Engineer to join our team and lead cloud financial services to our wide customers including FinOps Frameworks, best practices, cost optimization sessions, tools usage and more. If you are passionate about cloud, excel in analytics, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will be responsible for driving cloud cost optimization initiatives, providing strategic insights, and collaborating with customers to achieve significant cost savings while maintaining top-notch cloud performance. Your role will encompass a deep understanding of cloud architecture aspects related to cost optimization and the ability to articulate findings in assess and recommendation documents.

What will you do?

In the role as Cloud FinOps Engineer you will be working in a team that is very close to business but also to Agile IT and Core IT. To succeed in this role, it is important that you have the ability to bridge the gap between our development, operation and financial teams.

You are not only an expert technician but you also have social competence and understands the need of the business. You always challenge yourself and others how to improve and develop and are open for suggestions from others but can also give your own.

As our Cloud FinOps engineer your major responsibility is driven to optimize cloud cost.

Besides your tasks and Resbonsibilities will be:

  • Lead cloud cost optimization sessions by analysing existing cloud infrastructure and identifying opportunities for cost reduction
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their specific cloud cost challenges, requirements, and goals. Provide tailored solutions to address their unique needs
  • Utilize your strong analytical skills to review cloud consumption data, identify inefficiencies, and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Create and maintain cloud cost models and pricing scenarios to support optimization efforts
  • Produce high-quality, formal documents and reports to present findings, recommendations, and cost optimization plans to customers
  • Implement and maintain cloud cost monitoring tools and dashboards to track and report on cost savings. Knowledge of Databricks is a pre, this is the backend of our billing report
  • Understand cloud architecture aspects that influence cost, such as resource provisioning, scaling, and resource utilization
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging cloud technologies to ensure our cost optimization strategies align with the latest trends

Qualifications

Who are you?

We are on the lookout for a Cloud FinOps Engineer who will merge the analytical prowess of a FinOps Practitioner with the technical expertise of an Engineer.

Next to this you bring:

  • An academic Degree in IT, engineering, science or mathematics
  • Experience in a large international environment
  • Knowledge of the Azure fundamentals, PowerShell, SQL, Databricks, PowerBI, DataFactory, Runbooks, Resource Graph
  • Experience in FinOps projects in larger enterprises
  • Very good understanding of billing on cloud platforms (incl. impact of usage patterns on TCO)
  • Good understanding of licences models
  • Proficient English communications skills (other local Vattenfall languages are a plus)
  • This job requires some international travel
  • You need to be able to work independently in an international team that meets more virtually than physically
