In Sweden, Vattenfall Värme delivers district heating, district cooling and steam to industries, property owners and residential customers in fifteen municipalities. We supply sustainable heating to around 200,000 Swedish households and heating, cooling and steam to industrial customers. We are actively working according to a clear plan to reduce fossil emissions in our cities, our own heat production and from our suppliers, with the goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2040. We are particularly proud that our main product, district heating, plays such an important role in the energy transition and the new circular society.


About the role

Vattenfall Värme Sverige conducts active and long-term environmental work to create a sustainable and developable district heating business with a great social responsibility and low environmental impact. We are now looking for a Director Safety & Environment.

Your main tasks

At Vattenfall, we have high goals in the work environment and environment and at Värme Sverige the issues are at the center of our strategy. As Director Safety & Environment you have an overall responsibility for our work environment and environmental issues. You will be part of the management team for Värme Sverige and report to the Head of Värme Sverige. Together with our managers, you will be a driving force in the work to promote a safe and healthy work environment and a high environmental performance by translating Vattenfall Group's work environment and environmental goals into operational goals for Värme Sverige. As Director Safety & Environment you will be expected to provide the conditions, frameworks and expertise required to improve health and safety and environmental performance at Värme Sverige's sites and across our operations. You will be supported by your team of health and safety and environmental experts. You will also work with:

  • Based on central guidelines, develop and implement instructions, routines and working methods within the business unit with the aim of improving the work environment and thus reducing the number of accidents and incidents. The work environment work includes both employees and hired contractors.
  • Follow up, evaluate and strengthen the work environment work against set goals and metrics in the area of responsibility. Where necessary, propose and take measures to improve the organization's compliance with the work environment and the organization's work environment policy, procedures and mandatory instructions.
  • Monitor and quality assure metrics linked to the organization's environmental performance.
  • Monitor trends and regulatory developments in your area and ensure, in close collaboration with the organization, that we are prepared and drive continuous improvements to meet developments.
  • Support the business with expertise related to the environmental permits and surrounding regulations that create the conditions for our business.
  • Build knowledge in the organization in your area of expertise.
  • In collaboration with central functions at Vattenfall, develop ways of working, interpret and apply policies within the area of responsibility in order to achieve concrete improvements, or advise the broader business on the application of policy, then monitor the implementation of these procedures in the organization.


Requirements

Your qualifications

  • Relevant academic degree.
  • 5 years' experience in a senior position.
  • Experience in Systematic Health and Safety Management at a strategic level, preferably in the energy and process industry.
  • Good insight into environmental legislation and practical application of the same, preferably in the combustion industry.
  • Good communicator and change leader.
  • Communication skills in Swedish and English in both speech and writing.
  • Driving license class B.

Location: Solna or Uppsala. There is travel in the service, including to our facilities in Sweden.
