The Technical Department at Business Unit Vattenfall Power Solutions develops and implements projects and assignments and provides internal technical specialist services in a single competence center for Vattenfall's operations, Group staffs and stakeholders. This involves activities in the form of feasibility studies, analyses, investigations and project planning in all of our energy types. The focus of the business unit is to develop our competence in strategic areas to work towards Vattenfall's development towards a fossil-free future.

To meet future energy needs, we are now facing an exciting future with new production and operating time extensions in nuclear power, as well as modernization of hydropower. Do you want to be part of this transition and contribute to a fossil-free society? We are now looking for you who are an engineer in Electrical Power Engineering.

You will work with highly competent colleagues in your area of expertise as well as in other disciplines.

On the west coast, the group consists of about 10 employees who work with plant design in process, electric power and I & C. On the east coast, the group consists of about 15 employees who work with analysis and design in electric power and I & C. In total, we are about 20 employees in the competence area of electrical power and I& C and in order to take advantage of each other's skills and experiences, we are part of a common functional area.


Your tasks

As an engineer with us, you will work with a variety of issues of varying complexity. As we are in a time where we have to prepare for new nuclear power and equip our aging plants to run for many years to come, the work involves finding innovative solutions that enable us to integrate modern technology with existing, which together meet modern requirements and provide high availability.

The work is varied and depending on your background, but based on the needs of the commissioning organization, the work may involve:

  • identifying and formulating facility and stakeholder requirements
  • developing and evaluating concept solutions
  • developing design and procurement documents/prerequisites
  • managing the technical elements of the implementation phase
  • reviewing quality assurance documents for verification and validation

We are looking for you who have

  • education in engineering, civil engineering or similar in the relevant field, or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
  • at least 5 years of experience in electric power issues in the process or power industry
  • good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, both in Swedish and in English
  • driving license B

You thrive in independent work as well as in a leading role, where you direct the technical work. In situations of difficulty or uncertainty, you are able to carry out structured and qualitative work using your analytical skills and accuracy. You have good collaboration skills and with your responsiveness, you are easy to create and maintain relationships, and also handle many contacts.

Location: Solna, Gothenburg, Uppsala, Västerås, Gävle, Nyköping or Oskarshamn. Travel is included as a natural part of the service, but we are actively working on technical solutions to reduce the proportion of travel.

About us

Business Unit (BU) Vattenfall Power Solutions is a business unit of approximately 600 people within Business Area (BA) Vattenfall Generation that trains personnel in Swedish nuclear power, delivers nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants, develops and implements projects and assignments and provides internal technical specialist services for all of Vattenfall's operations, Group staffs and stakeholders. This includes activities such as development and provision of training, project management and project support, analysis management and investigation, product development, nuclear safety and dam safety assignments. The focus of the Vattenfall Power Solutions business unit is to develop our capabilities in project management and selected key technical disciplines. We work actively with continuous improvement initiatives and development of our models, where our work and competence creates great value for Vattenfall and its investments.
