In Sweden, Vattenfall Värme delivers district heating, district cooling and steam to industries, property owners and residential customers in fifteen municipalities. We supply sustainable heating to around 200,000 Swedish households and heating, cooling and steam to industrial customers. About the role

Are you passionate about working with environmental issues and want to join us on the journey towards a fossil-free future? Vattenfall Värme Sverige conducts active and long-term environmental work to create a sustainable and developable district heating business with a great social responsibility and low environmental impact. We are now looking for an Environmental Expert for Vattenfall Värme.

As an Environmental Expert with us, you drive continuous improvements in environmental performance within Vattenfall's district heating operations and thus contribute to the energy transition and the circular society with a competitive district heating. You will personally, and together with others in the central environmental unit, support the operations to ensure that they are conducted in accordance with environmental legislation, environmental permits and environmental management systems. We have an integrated management system certified in accordance with the international ISO standards for environment and work environment (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001). The Uppsala plant area also has a certificate for Quality (ISO 9001).

Duties as an Environmental Expert:

  • Participate in permit processes in connection with the continuous development of the facilities.
  • Contribute to ensuring that environmental performance and compliance based on ISO 14001 is conducted effectively in accordance with our management system.
  • Ensure compliance monitoring and that in the event of regulatory changes, the business has timely information on what is required.
  • Manage regulatory communications.
  • Suggest and drive initiatives and be involved in the maintenance of instructions and action plans to ensure that the business complies with applicable environmental legislation and management systems.
  • In consultation with the company management, evaluate, propose and implement activities that help us to sustainable and competitive district heating that meets requirements and goals in the environmental field.
  • Monitor the development of environmental issues that may be of interest in the future and contribute with analyses and proposals for action plans for the business as well as contribute with input to the internal lobby organization on environmental issues.
  • Support project activities with expertise in the environmental field.
  • Participate in collaborations within Vattenfall Värme and within the Vattenfall Group.

Requirements

We are looking for you who have:

  • Relevant university or college education with an environmental focus.
  • A minimum of three years of documented experience of qualified operational environmental work and good knowledge of current legislation in the environmental field.
  • Experience of working with licensing authorities.
  • Good knowledge and experience of ISO 14001, preferably from integrated management systems.
  • B driving license is an advantage, the position includes travel to our facilities.
  • Experience of environmental work in combustion operations (highly meritorious).

As a person, we are looking for you who are trustworthy and communicative with the ability to inspire others in environmental work and pursue these issues independently and purposefully. You are confident in your professional role and in driving responsibilities and development issues from a business and operational perspective in collaboration with others. Furthermore, it is important that you are structured and have a systematic approach. In the role, you will work with many different stakeholders, hence you need to be able to communicate both orally and in writing in Swedish and English.
