Business Unit (BU) Vattenfall Power Solutions is a business unit of approximately 450 people within Business Area (BA) Vattenfall Generation that supplies nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants, develops and implements projects and assignments and provides internal technical specialist services for all of Vattenfall's operations, Group staffs and stakeholders. This includes activities such as project management and project support, analysis management and investigation, product development, nuclear safety and dam safety assignments. The focus of the Vattenfall Power Solutions business unit is to develop our capabilities in project management and selected key technical disciplines. We work actively with continuous improvement initiatives and development of our models, where our work and competence create great value for Vattenfall and its investments.

The Technical Department at Business Unit Vattenfall Power Solutions develops and implements projects and assignments and provides internal technical specialist services in a single competence center for all of Vattenfall's operations, Group staffs and stakeholders. This involves activities in the form of feasibility studies, analyses, investigations and project planning in all of our energy sources. The focus of the business unit is to develop our competence in strategic areas to work towards Vattenfall's development towards a fossil-free future.

We are now looking for someone who wants to help establish the technical area of construction on the west coast for VPS. You will be the first construction engineer on the west coast, but work closely with the construction grouping on the east coast with about 20 employees, primarily in Solna. Our assignments are varied and involve many complex challenges in building construction, investigation work and design. It places high demands on flexibility, safety thinking, collaborative ability and constructive solutions

In the grouping in Gothenburg, we are a good bunch of about 10 driven and committed engineers who work with plant design in process, electrical power and automation. We hope you want to be our first engineer in building construction!

Your tasks

As a senior building designer with us, you will work with a variety of issues of varying complexity that span several subject areas. As we are in a time where we will build new facilities and equip our aging facilities to run for many years to come, the work includes finding innovative solutions that enable us to integrate modern building technology with existing ones that together meet modern requirements and provide high availability.

Based on the needs of the commissioning organization, the work may involve:

• Identification and formulation of requirements from the facility and stakeholders
• Formulation and evaluation of concept solutions, and evaluate the cost-benefit of these
• To be a project manager and coordinate construction issues in design and collaborate with other technical areas
• To be responsible for design and / or calculation in projects
• Review of documentation for quality assurance with regard to validation and verification

Examples of tasks that we carry out in construction are; condition assessments, damage investigations and development of action proposals, strength calculations, FE analysis, 3D modeling, design of instrumentation programs and preparation of sampling. As a senior structural engineer, you may lead colleagues and/or external consultants in the assignments/projects. There are also great opportunities to contribute to and influence the development of methods and ways of working. Requirement specification

We believe that you have a longer experience as a designer, mainly from infrastructure or process industry. We would like you to have experience in nuclear, hydroelectric or other heavy plant construction. You have experience of design work in various phases, from preliminary studies to detailed design, and have good knowledge of calculations, design tools and applicable regulations. It is a merit if you have worked as an assignment leader and we look positively on if you are interested in acting as a mentor for younger employees.
