Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and about 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are about 500 employees in Sweden and Finland with headquarters in Luleå. Hydropower's renewable electricity production is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future.Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. To deliver high availability in our production, we need to constantly challenge ourselves, develop our working methods and take advantage of digital opportunities.



About the role


We now want to strengthen our team with another Dam Technical Expert with expertise as hydrologist for the dam safety department. The department is responsible for the management and follow-up of dam safety work within Vattenfall Vattenkraft. We analyze the safety of dams and set requirements for their design, compile action needs, initiate projects and announce operational restrictions when necessary. You will work on a variety of investigation, development, calculation and analysis work. We hydrologists also participate in national and industry-wide development and research projects.

We are currently seventeen people working in Luleå, Solna, Trollhättan, Kinna, Umeå, Älvkarleby, Örnsköldsvik and Östersund and we are now looking for a dam technical expert with competence as a hydrologist with a location in Luleå, alternatively Solna. The position is a permanent full-time position.

You will work with:

  • Identify and evaluate deficiencies and deviations regarding the status of the facilities regarding dam safety, initiate appropriate measures.
  • Identify needs, develop proposals and lead dam analysis studies
  • Apply the risk management process for dams
  • Propose measures and establish action plans for increased dam safety
  • Prepare decision-making documents for feasibility studies and projects
  • Participate in the management and development of the field of hydrology in dam safety
  • Participate in the implementation of guidelines for determining the design flow for dams



Requirement specification


The applicant has training as a hydrologist or training and experience in the field of dam safety and is a civil engineer with a specialization in Civil Engineering, You have the ability to handle many issues, you are analytical, goal-oriented and trustworthy and have easy to collaborate with others Meritorious if you have program knowledge in GIS, FEM, CAD.


B-driving license is a requirement as travel occurs. You have the ability to handle many questions, you are analytical, goal-oriented and trustworthy and have easy to collaborate with others and also have good communication skills in speech and writing in English and Swedish.
