Company description

We at Vattenfall are committed to making fossil-free living possible. To succeed, as one of Europe's largest energy companies, we must first become completely fossil-free ourselves. But that is not enough. To contribute to a fossil-free society, we need to do more than just focus on sustainable energy production.

Because we are convinced that if we are to make fossil-free living possible, we need to look at the challenge from a broader perspective than just producing energy in a sustainable way.

Power Climate Smarter living - that is our purpose. We are looking for talented students to help us on our journey towards fossil-free living. Writing a thesis at Vattenfall gives you a unique opportunity to contribute to our purpose. All we ask of you is that you unleash your superpowers and share your energy with us.

About the role

In the planning stage of new properties, the property owner, often through consultants, states an expected energy and power demand for the planned property. These figures are in turn used by energy companies as a basis for important decisions about the connection of the new property, but also for decisions about existing infrastructure and the need for future investments. But how well do these calculations match the actual energy and power demand when the building is commissioned? How well do they match the building regulations that applied when the property was planned?

The thesis is suitable for one person.

The work includes:

  • Comparing data from the planning stage with the actual energy and power demand when the property is in operation.
  • Identifying any over- or underestimates in the initial calculations.
  • Explore the possibilities for improvements in the planning process to ensure more accurate and cost-effective investments in infrastructure.

By participating in this project, you will have the opportunity to work with real data, collaborating with experienced professionals. The outcome of your work can have a major impact on future planning and investments.
