The role of Operations Engineer

A secure grid operation is an important key to help our customers to a climate-smart life. Vattenfall Electricity Distribution is making major investments in the future of our electricity network, and our network operations department is responsible for all monitoring and operational planning in connection with work to be carried out in Vattenfall's network. We offer a varied job and a workplace with a good community where you become an important cog in the wheel to make the whole thing work.

In the Operations Planning department, we are five groups that work together on planning short and long term operations in our networks. We also work closely with the Operations Monitoring department, which works with monitoring and operational services to manage what is happening in the network as efficiently as possible. We are looking for employees for our Transmission Operations Planning group (40-130 kV). The work as an operations engineer suits you who like logical challenges and to work in a coordinating way. The service is daytime but there is the possibility of service in the operations center, which can mean shift work, on-call or standby.

Examples of main tasks:

  • Plan and prepare work in the regional network, ensure that it is done electrically safe and minimize the outage times for our customers. Writing and checking operational orders.
  • Maintain a close dialogue both internally and externally, including with our customers, contractors and other network owners.
  • Participate in project meetings for investments and maintenance in our regional network.
  • Perform various forms of operational calculations.

Requirements specification

In addition to your technical skills, we attach great importance to your personal qualities. We are looking for you who are stimulated by being able to use your analytical skills in connection with slightly more complex issues. You also need to be thorough and quality-conscious in your work. Good interpersonal skills are required as the position involves several internal and external interfaces. You have the ability to adapt easily to changing circumstances and can remain calm even in more pressured situations.

  • Education in electrical power or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Work experience from regional networks is meritorious.
  • Fluent Swedish in speech and writing is required.
