About the role

Your workplace and group

The Protection Department is responsible for the work environment, external environment, radiation protection and physical protection. The position is located at the Operational Radiation Protection unit in the Radiation Protection Technology group. The unit provides competence and resources in the field of radiation protection, radiology, and dosimetry.

Radiation Protection Technology is the unit's strategic development group and supports the unit with regard to radiation safety and instruments, as well as supporting the entire Forsmark with radiological knowledge. We manage and provide required radiation protection training and conduct investigations in radiology and radiation safety. ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) issues and lessons learned are a major part of our daily activities. The group consists of 13 people and includes both junior staff and people with extensive operational and academic experience.


Your main tasks

The field of work is broad and exciting, and in the role of Technical Advisor in Radiological Analysis you will be in a key position. As a physicist, you will be a central part of the organization, supporting both operational and strategic issues and providing technical input to the management team, while actively driving developments in your field.

Examples of responsibilities and tasks:

  • Work closely with radiation protection staff and support the daily work in practical radiation protection.
  • lead strategic and in-depth work within the organization - e.g. identifying and addressing deviations in management from regulations and developing ways of working to ensure compliance
  • developing strategies for radiological mapping within the facility and local area
  • manage personal safety issues, such as dose monitoring, dose constraints, radiation shielding calculations and protective measures.
  • conduct analyses, design measures and lead their implementation.
  • contribute to skills development through training, mentoring and skills enhancement for existing staff.
  • participate in intra-company, national and international networks, which may involve travel in the service.
  • participate in the accident response organization and contribute your expertise in critical situations.

Your everyday life is characterized by dialogue and cooperation with both operational staff and management. You keep yourself updated in the field by participating in various forums and networks, both internally and externally.

Requirements

You have:

  • higher academic education in physics, preferably radiophysics, radiation biology or equivalent
  • established experience of improvement work on a larger scale, analytical work and report compilations
  • fluent Swedish and good knowledge of English, both in speech and writing

It is meritorious with:

  • experience from radiation protection work
  • facility knowledge and work at nuclear power plants
  • interest in and practical experience of teaching and supervising others
  • in-depth knowledge of radiology and radiation protection
