SKB is looking for an experienced rock engineering manager for the Technology Department.

Here you will work

The Technology Department has a company-wide mission to design and develop all of SKB's nuclear facilities. The rock construction group, which you will be part of, consists of eight people located in Östhammar and Solna.

In Forsmark, in Östhammar municipality, we run two major projects. One is about expanding the final repository for short-lived radioactive waste, SFR, and the other is about building a final repository for spent nuclear fuel.

In 2026, we will begin construction of a final repository for spent nuclear fuel in Forsmark's bedrock, but soon we will start rock work to expand SFR. As a rock engineering manager, you will be involved in both projects and you will be an important project member in Forsmark with good opportunities to influence and develop our construction activities.

What you will do

  • Lead, control and follow up the design of underground structures with external suppliers
  • coordinate the design work with neighboring technical areas and units within SKB
  • manage requirements and work them into technical solutions
  • prepare and evaluate requests for design and contracting for planned civil engineering projects

Your background

We are looking for you who are a civil engineer in road and water with a few years of experience in civil engineering. You have experience from civil engineering projects, preferably in a leading role. If you have worked with subways or more complex rock construction projects, it is an advantage.

We also see it as a merit if you have good knowledge of construction tools, have a BAS-P certificate and training in project management or experience of leading small groups.


As a person, you are familiar with the area and are happy to share your knowledge with your colleagues. Taking on a task and seeing it through to the end together with the team is second nature to you. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to see the big picture and understand and manage changing conditions and changes. You have good collaboration skills and are good at creating and maintaining good relationships.

You are skilled at expressing yourself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English and have a driving license B.

Presence on site in Forsmark two days a week is required, in addition there are good opportunities for remote work.
