The role of Safety Technician in Technical Surveillance

The Technical Surveillance business area is growing rapidly and Vattenfall Eldistribution is installing more and more safety technology in the plant portfolio. In addition to reinvestment needs for obsolete equipment, there are strong driving forces through increased demands for fewer and shorter power outages and enablers for further digitization. The OT & Technical Surveillance Group is responsible for the operation and management of all security technology within Vattenfall Eldistribution, such as camera surveillance, area protection, burglar alarms, fire alarms and access control systems. The assignment is national with a life-cycle perspective and the group works actively as a technical requirement setter and enabler in the plant investment projects.

You will

As a Security Technician, you will work with our managers, application specialists, contractors and suppliers to ensure that the technical equipment that is installed, or already installed in the plant portfolio works as intended. Systems are critical to operations and must function 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is a high degree of travel involved in the role, mainly within your region but also nationally on special occasions.

Examples of tasks:

  • Carry out local commissioning of installed security technology
  • Configuration and parameterization together with application specialist
  • Testing, self-checking, troubleshooting and maintenance of related equipment
  • Play the role of Plant Manager for safety technology in your region

Requirements specification

We are looking for you who have:

  • A few years of industry experience in the security industry as an alarm technician or senior installer
  • Broad telecommunications understanding of how security systems are wired and installed
  • Product knowledge of the area's systems and products
  • Good computer skills with basic IT knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of network communication over TCP/IP
  • Basic knowledge of the rules and standards of the sector

It is also an advantage if you

  • have a secondary education in telecommunications, IT or control engineering
  • Have professional experience as an electrician
  • Have industry experience in electricity distribution
  • Have plant knowledge of electricity network facilities

We are looking for you who take initiative, are self-driven and take responsibility for your tasks. You are meticulous, have good communication and cooperation skills and have a structured way of working. The position entails placement in a Security Class in accordance with the Security Protection Act and also includes a wartime placement in your role within Vattenfall. A B-driving license is a basic requirement for the position.
