We are now looking for several senior buyers for Procurement Hydro Nordics at Vattenfall to strengthen our team and compensate for retirements, mobility within Vattenfall and an increased investment rate.

About us

Hydro Nordic drives investments and growth projects as well as operation and maintenance of hydropower plants, in areas such as dam safety, transformers, control systems, turbines and generators. Our hydropower plants are important for Sweden's electricity production. Hydro Nordic has a large investment need in the coming years with many exciting projects. With your expertise in the field of purchasing, you will have an important role in ensuring that we together contribute to our common success.

About the role

As a Senior Buyer, you will have a central role where you are responsible for building and maintaining long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with our suppliers. In your role, you have commercial responsibility and your mission is to secure the supplier base in your areas to ensure that we reach our time, cost, quality and sustainability targets. In collaboration with the project organization and some of our key functions within purchasing, engineering and legal, you will develop and shape purchasing strategies that create real value for our stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

  • Independently carry out procurement of materials, services and works
  • Develop category strategies and purchasing strategies for major projects
  • Responsible for benchmarking and supplier evaluations
  • Participate in developing processes, working methods and tools that support the purchasing process for both purchasing and operations
  • Collaborate with engineering and project departments and other units within Vattenfall's purchasing function


Requirements specification

To succeed in the role, we look for you to have:

  • Relevant academic education in for example engineering, economics, law, purchasing or other experience that we consider equivalent
  • Experience of having developed and implemented category management
  • Solid experience of procurement in construction law in the forms ABA, AB & ABT incl. AMA
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in purchasing and good supplier development skills
  • Good negotiation skills and used to conducting complex negotiations, either as a buyer or from previous sales roles
  • An interest in technical issues
  • Analytical and structured with a business mindset
  • Good communication skills, both in Swedish and English

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience with SAP S/4 HANA
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience as a tender engineer and of costing work
  • Experience from the energy industry

Previous experience in the process industry or construction industry is considered positive.
