About the role

Do you have experience in nuclear chemistry, radiophysics or related areas? Do you want to work in the nuclear industry and enable a fossil-free life?

We are now looking for a new colleague who wants to be part of a committed and highly competent team with the task of supporting Vattenfall's nuclear operations in the field of Radiological Safety. You will be part of a team that values openness and cooperation, and works for a positive working climate with a strong community. In total, we are currently 17 employees in the Radiological Safety East and West groups. You will belong to one of these two groups depending on where you live, but we work closely together between the groups. This provides good opportunities for support and varied and developing assignments.

Your tasks

As a specialist in the field of Radiological Safety, you will work with issues that are relevant to existing and planned nuclear facilities. The field covers issues related to the entire life cycle: from planning to operation and later decommissioning of activities.

Examples of tasks in the field of radiological safety:

  • Investigations in personnel radiation protection, accident preparedness, dosimetry, radiation biology and metrology
  • Radiation shielding and dose calculations
  • Release calculations and environmental impact assessments
  • Radiological inventories and source term analyses
  • Significant accident analyses

The variety of tasks will depend on your interest, knowledge and the needs of the organization. In some assignments you will be the project manager with responsibility for progress and time monitoring, among other things, and in other assignments you will participate in projects led by others.

We know that our employees are the key to our success. We value your development and will always encourage you to use your skills and provide you with opportunities to grow through new challenges, training and skills transfer. With us, you will be trusted to act with great freedom and responsibility, which, together with good working conditions and mutual trust, provides a high level of flexibility and work-life balance.

Requirements

Your qualifications

  • Education equivalent to a Master's degree in nuclear chemistry, reactor chemistry, nuclear physics, reactor physics, radiophysics or related fields
  • Very good knowledge of ionizing radiation, interaction of radionuclides with matter and radiation protection
  • Several years of work experience in the field of radiological safety
  • B-driving license

It is meritorious if you have a PhD in the relevant field of education and work experience from several different parts of nuclear activities. If you also have experience of working with requirements management, safety reporting or applications under the Swedish Nuclear Activities Act, we also see this as a merit. Furthermore, experience of working in national and international networks in the subject area and knowledge of radiochemistry, radiation biology, personnel radiation protection, accident preparedness or severe accidents are meritorious.

We are looking for you who are analytical, are used to dealing with complex issues and enjoy taking on complicated problems. You take responsibility for your tasks and effectively drive the missions you and your colleagues are engaged in. You are able to adapt easily to changing circumstances. You are also expected to be a good communicator, a good team player and to build relationships and trust. You are adept at expressing yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
