Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and about 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are about 500 employees in Sweden and Finland with headquarters in Luleå. Hydropower's renewable electricity production is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future.Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. Are you an aspiring or more experienced systems engineer with a keen interest in hydropower, electricity generation and server and application operations?
In our group, we work with the operation and management of Vattenfall Vattenkraft's server/virtualization and storage infrastructure. Our focus is life cycle management of hardware, software updates, but also planning and commissioning of new installations.
We who are part of the group are based in Jokkmokk, Luleå and Sundsvall. Despite the distance, we work closely together in a helpful and open work environment. Our work is varied and you are offered good opportunities to be involved in influencing how we develop and manage critical IT / OT solutions at a time when hydropower is a very important part of Sweden's total electricity mix.
This is what you will be working on with us!
The work of a systems engineer in server and application operations is creative, while we have clear regulations to adhere to. All parts of our work are characterized by a focus on IT security where we must challenge ourselves and stay one step ahead.
We are responsible for the operation and management of a number of Windows domain/Active Directory instances. We are also involved in the operation and management of a number of business-related applications, such as physical security and surveillance systems.
All systems have high requirements for both availability and IT security. We place great emphasis on collecting logs for superordinate systems for monitoring. Based on that, backup and recovery of systems is also a natural part of our work.
In addition to our daily work with server and application operations, we can also participate in various projects and initiatives that need our expertise, then we support, for example, in developing new solutions and / or security-enhancing measures.

Requirements specification
We are looking for both those with previous experience in the areas below and recent graduates with relevant training and some experience. Regardless of how far you have come in your professional role, we know that you will be able to continue to develop with us.
Do you recognize yourself in any of the following areas?
- Work experience in networked storage platforms, for example NetApp
- Automation/scripting, for example with Ansible
- Knowledge of one or more virtualization platforms (VMware)
- Operation and management of Windows server and Active Directory
- Experience with PKI solutions
- Planning and implementing backup/restore of critical systems
- Knowledge of information and IT security
- Management of logs from both hardware and applications to our operational monitoring and SIEM platforms
- Experience working with models/frameworks, such as ITIL/PM3.
As a systems engineer, you will need to use both your curiosity and deductive skills in various situations to move forward. The work involves both teamwork and independent work. You will be given the opportunity to travel in the service and meet magnificent hydropower plants and knowledgeable colleagues around the country.
You will feel comfortable communicating in both Swedish and English. Once you are introduced to the work, system readiness may be part of the service. You have a B driving license.
