About the role

Are you our new system engineer in nuclear waste management? Do you want to contribute to Sweden's fossil-free electricity supply?

We are now looking for a system engineer in nuclear waste and clearance for the Solid Waste group at Forsmark Power Group.

About the job

The group is responsible for the management of nuclear waste and clearance of non-system bound nuclear waste from all reactors. We provide technical support in projects, perform analyses and investigations in the area of responsibility. The group is also responsible for contacts with SKB, handling of inventories, heavy transports and operations in the decommissioning workshops.

As a systems engineer in waste, you will work with a helpful team that spans a wide range of expertise, from engineers to operational staff. Your tasks include performing gamma spectrometric measurements of materials for clearance or solid waste for final disposal, evaluating measurements and being responsible for recording measurement data in the database and follow-up in waste registers. You will also develop methods, procedures and instructions as well as write reports and provide technical support in projects linked to waste activities. You will ensure that the activities follow set targets and meet regulatory requirements, and keep up to date with developments in areas of activity. As a representative of your area of responsibility, it includes participating in internal and external meetings and forums, giving lectures and training in the area of responsibility.

Requirements specification

As a person, you are self-driven and drive your work forward. You are calm and stable in stressful situations and can easily cope with changes during the working day as well as in working methods. As the work is largely authority-driven and your work is scrutinized, it is important that your motivation is maintained until the task is completed. The role involves a lot of contacts both with other departments at Forsmark but also with other external parties where you may represent Forsmark. It is therefore important that you have a good ability to communicate and cooperate with others.

We would like to see that you have

  • High school or civil engineering education in radiochemistry, chemical engineering, radiophysics or experience in gamma measurements
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

It is an advantage if you have experience in the nuclear power industry, waste management and the Swedish nuclear waste system and experience preferably linked to the clearance of materials. If you have experience of report writing to authorities, documentation and registration and follow-up in databases, this is also considered a merit.
