Company description

Enabling fossil-free energy that drives society forward - that is our purpose. We are looking for talented students who want to help us on our journey towards fossil-free By writing a thesis at Vattenfall, you get a unique opportunity to contribute to our purpose.

About the role

The Structural Design and Calculation Group, which is part of the Mechanical/Process and Civil Engineering Unit, has a broad scope of work and extensive expertise in advanced strength calculations

The strength of nuclear power plants plays a crucial role in providing fossil-free and reliable energy production. In order to ensure the long-term durability and safety of these facilities, it is important to continuously improve their structural integrity. Traditional strengthening methods have proven to have their limitations, and there is a need to explore new, innovative solutions based on proven research in the field. The thesis will focus on identifying such solutions in reinforced concrete through advanced structural and material modeling and simulations with the goal of contributing to a safer and more efficient nuclear power industry.

The aim of the assignment is to evaluate existing and develop new strengthening methods that for reinforced concrete can improve the long-term structural strength and safety of nuclear facilities.

This assignment is for one or two students

    About Vattenfall

At Vattenfall, we are committed to enabling fossil freedom. To succeed, as one of Europe's largest energy companies, we must first become completely fossil-free ourselves. But that is not enough. To contribute to a fossil-free society, we need to do more than just focus on sustainable energy production.

Because we are convinced that we need to enable fossil freedom, we need to look at the challenge from a broader perspective than just producing energy in a sustainable way.

Join us on the road to fossil freedom.
