About Vattenfall

We at Vattenfall are determined to make fossil-free living possible within a generation. To succeed, as one of Europe's largest energy companies, we must first become completely fossil-free ourselves. But that is not enough. To contribute to a fossil-free society, we need to do more than just focus on sustainable energy production.

Because we are convinced that if we are to make it possible to live fossil-free within a generation, we need to look at the challenge from a broader perspective than just producing energy in a sustainable way.

Follow us on the road to a fossil-free life.

About the role

Power Climate Smarter living - that's our purpose. We are looking for talented students to help us on our journey towards fossil-free living. Writing a thesis at Vattenfall gives you a unique opportunity to contribute to our purpose. All we ask is that you unleash your superpowers and share your energy with us.

About the thesis

At Forsmark, maintenance work of a preventive and remedial nature is carried out. We offer three thesis projects that aim to analyze prevention in the maintenance areas of electrical power, mechanics and instruments. The analysis will propose availability-enhancing changes in a cost-effective way.

In this way, we achieve an optimized maintenance with the right balance between preventive and corrective maintenance.

The main questions in the work are based on Analysis of completed preventive maintenance:

  • Has preventive maintenance, FU, been carried out in a timely manner (limitation to 15 or 20 years back in time)
  • Has remedial maintenance, AU, been carried out that could have been prevented?
  • Is the preventive maintenance relevant, involving a performance comparison with other plants and equipment suppliers.

The result is presented in report form through answers to the main questions and proposals for availability-enhancing changes in the maintenance program based on cost-effectiveness.

The goal is an evaluation of implemented preventive maintenance in electrical, mechanical and instrument maintenance with the aim of optimizing maintenance in the future.

The implementation of the degree project involves an analysis of data from the SAP maintenance system, where interviews are conducted with area managers for the components to be analyzed.
