Er du den rette?

The Viscaria mine in Kiruna is an important step towards increasing Sweden's and the EU's self-sufficiency in critical minerals. With its high copper content, estimated mineral resources, estimated mineral reserves, strategic geographic location and a growing team of experts, Viscaria is well positioned to deliver high quality copper while adhering to the highest environmental and sustainability standards. Using the latest mining technologies, sophisticated logistics and advanced water treatment, Viscaria strives to become one of the world's most sustainable copper and iron producers.

At Viscaria, we are committed to promoting a culture of equality, diversity, inclusion and respect for all. In 2024, our commitment was recognized when Viscaria was named to the AllBrights Green List - an award that celebrates companies that have made significant strides in equality, diversity and inclusion.

Want to be part of this exciting journey? Join us in a business where courage, commitment and collaboration are the foundation of our success. We are now looking for several Summer Geologists to join our geology department during the summer months starting in May/June and running until September.

Job description
Our Summer Geologists are based in Kiruna and focus on the Viscaria project, which is in an exciting phase of near-mine and district-wide exploration. This offers a unique opportunity to learn about the discovery of new ore bodies and how they integrate into a future copper mining operation. The region has great potential for significant copper discoveries and also offers fantastic outdoor recreational opportunities close to many Scandinavian attractions.

The work mainly involves drill core logging, including core preparation, geological and geotechnical data collection, sampling and field work, all following strict QAQC protocols. These activities target zones at depths between 400 and 1.7 km within a well-preserved IOCG-IOA system, providing a rare chance to study both tops and bottoms of such formations. The data collected during this phase forms the basis for subsequent geotechnical, resource and economic studies.

You will be part of a diverse team of geologists, under the guidance of experienced experts, but may also work independently if required. The role can be physically demanding, as handling drill cores requires stamina. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a safe and leading mining region of Europe, and provides the necessary skills to embark on a successful career in the minerals industry.

Education and experience
If you are currently studying geology or have recently completed a university degree in geology with a good track record, this is an opportunity for you.

We expect the applicant to have a strong interest in one or more disciplines of mineral exploration, such as field mapping, exploration geophysics, geochemistry or structural geology. You should have a positive, courageous and curious attitude to drive discoveries forward and be a team player with a safety-focused mindset. As we have an international team, we require good knowledge of English and a class B driver's license (or valid equivalent).
