SSAB - Head of Construction Project Management
Oxelösund, Sverige
Type of Employment Full-time
Job position Production Manager, Construction
Work model On location
Application due date 18 May 2025
Are you the one?

Do you want to be involved in driving development in one of Sweden's most exciting industrial environments? We are now looking for a committed and experienced manager who wants to lead our construction project managers and take overall responsibility for our construction project business. You will join our transition journey as we move to fossil-free steel production and, in connection with this, you will develop working methods for projects that have high demands on safety, sustainability and coordination. Welcome with your application! Location Oxelösund.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for the development of our society and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges connecting our cities and in the cars of tomorrow. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and around 2030 we will be largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play an important role in realizing this goal and thus contribute to the green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the position

As a manager, you will be a key person in our real estate and facilities organization. You will lead a team of construction project managers and have overall responsibility for ensuring that our construction projects are planned, implemented and followed up in an efficient, safe and businesslike manner.

The projects mainly concern new and rebuilding projects within our industrial operations, often with high demands on safety, sustainability and coordination. You work closely with other departments within the business, collaborate with external suppliers and report to the Head of Real Estate. The role involves both operational leadership and strategic responsibility for the development of working methods, skills supply and quality in the projects.

Your main responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of construction project managers (7 employees and approximately 10 consultants).
  • Ensure that projects are run according to goals, budget and schedule.
  • Develop processes and working methods for effective project management.
  • Work actively with safety, environmental and sustainability issues.
  • Support in technical issues and be a sounding board in the projects.
  • Contribute to our long-term Property Development and investment planning.

About you

  • To succeed in the role, we prefer if you have experience of leading construction projects in an industrial environment or similar complex environments.
  • You have previously had staff responsibility or have a clear interest in leadership.
  • You are used to working in a structured way, with good foresight and a holistic approach.
  • You are confident in dialog with both internal clients and external contractors and have a coaching approach to your employees.
  • We would like to see that you have a relevant technical education, for example an engineer in
  • construction, road and water or equivalent experience.
  • As a person, you are responsive and energetic and value cooperation, transparency and a solution-oriented approach.

Some words from your future manager

"In this role, you will help shape how we will work with construction project management in the future - both strategically and in practice. It's not just about managing people and projects, but about further developing our working methods and creating a structure for a business that is growing rapidly and has high demands. An important part of this is to ensure that our projects are conducted in line with current work environment legislation and AFSs for construction work. I'm looking for someone who wants to be involved in taking a holistic approach - who sees the strength in collaboration, but also dares to challenge and drive change where needed."
